” Dear Dr. Nussbaum,

“I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the semester. Being in such a small class made a big difference, and it was clear how much you cared, not just about the material, but about us as students. Your enthusiasm for biology was contagious, and I really appreciated the way you explained concepts with such clarity in a way that we actually understand!

Thanks again for everything this semester. I learned a lot, and it really meant a lot to have a professor who genuinely loves what he teaches.

Best,

Rami Greenwald”

“Today, I have the honor of standing before you to express our deepest appreciation for someone who has not only taught us biology, but has shown us what it truly means to be passionate, curious, and endlessly inspired by the natural world.

That person is Dr. David Nussbaum

Dr. Nussbaum didn’t just teach us facts about cells, genes, ecosystems, or evolution—he helped us understand life itself. And not just in a textbook sense. In every lecture, every moment of enthusiastic explanation, he reminded us that biology is the story of who we are, where we come from, and how every living thing is connected.

He brought concepts alive with such energy that you couldn’t help but be drawn in. He showed us that science isn’t about memorizing diagrams or passing exams; it’s about asking questions, exploring the unknown, and thinking critically about the world around us.

His passion for biology was contagious and his patience with us—no matter how many times we asked the difference between mitosis and meiosis—never failed. He explained complex systems with clarity, enthusiasm, and a kindness that made us feel safe to ask questions, to be curious, and to make mistakes.

And let’s not forget his sense of humor. Whether it was a perfectly timed pun about fungi being ‘fun guys, ” or a joke about cells needing space because they’re always dividing, Dr. Nussbaum reminded us that science doesn’t have to be dry—it can be joyful, human, and even hilarious.

Dr. Nussbaum, we want to thank you—not just for being an incredible teacher, but for being a mentor, a motivator, and a model of what it means to love learning. You’ve helped us grow—intellectually, emotionally, and organically.

Because of you, we see the world differently now. We see the elegance in DNA replication, the beauty in biodiversity, and the delicate balance of ecosystems not as abstract ideas, but as living, breathing realities.

Thank you for dedicating your time, your energy, and your heart to helping us learn. We’ll carry your lessons with us far beyond the classroom—because once you’ve looked at life through the eyes of someone who truly loves biology, it’s impossible not to be amazed by it.

From all of us—thank you, Dr. Nussbaum. You’ve left an imprint on our minds, and dare I say, our cells, that we won’t forget.”
