Happy New Year! This is the standard greeting at midnight on New Year’s Eve. We also say Happy New Year when we greet people for the first time, in the early days of the New Year.

New Year Resolutions

New Year’s Eve we make our New Year resolutions.

Definition:

A resolution is a decision you make to yourself to do or to not do something.

The word resolution is a noun.

The associated VERB is to resolve‘ (to decide).

Examples:

‘My New Year resolution is to get fit’ | ‘I resolve to get fit’.
